Monika is de grote zus van Madhan. Beide kinderen verblijven in Saranalaya. Madhan zit in het eerste leerjaar en Monika in het de derde klas. Papa heeft na familiale problemen zelfmoord gepleegd en mama is heel arm. Ze werkt voor daglonen. De mama is heel blij dat haar kinderen in het tehuis verblijven en zo ook kunnen studeren wat hun kansen naar de toekomst toe heel wat groter maakt.

Monika is the older sister of Madhan. Both kids stay in Saranalaya. Madhan is in the first class of the primary school and Monika in the third. Their father commited suicide after problems in the family. Their mother is very poor and works for daily wages. As a mother she is very happy that her children stay in Saranalaya and get the oppotunity to study. Because of that, their chance for a bright future is so much bigger.
