Op 15 augustus 1947 werd India onafhankelijk van Groot-Brittanië. De formatie van de grondwet vond plaats op 26 januari 1950.

Dus telkens op 15 augustus wordt de onafhankelijkheidsdag gevierd en op 26 januari is er elk jaar de dag van de Republiek.

India got independent from Britain August 15,1947, and they made formation of constitution in January 26th of 1950.

So they celebrate independence day in every august 15 and they celebrate Republic day every 26th of January.
