Our Children

Saranalaya Children's Home takes care of about 50 street children from the Chennai area of southern India.

Most of our children are half orphans. Often the mother is left alone after the father (and thus breadwinner) has left the family or died. Life in the slums is hard and often it is impossible for the mother to provide for her child, let alone send it to school. There are also some children in Saranalaya who no longer have parents.
